How long do strawberries last?
Strawberries keep only 2 to 3 days in the fridge after you buy them, and raspberries the same. Blueberries last longer: 1 to 2 weeks. All of them freeze well for 8 to 12 months.

Fridge at 4 °C (40 °F) or colder, freezer at −18 °C (0 °F). Freezer times are for best quality: food kept frozen stays safe, but slowly loses taste and texture. These times are USDA guidance, not a guarantee. When in doubt, throw it out.
How to tell if strawberries have gone bad
- Mold: gray or white fuzz. Throw out moldy berries and any that touched them, and check the rest carefully.
- Soft, mushy, leaking or shriveled berries.
- A fermented or sour smell.
- Dark, dull color and sunken spots.
How to store strawberries
- Sort through the pack as soon as you get home and remove any moldy or crushed berries: mold spreads fast from one berry to the next.
- Don't wash berries until just before you eat them. Moisture makes them go moldy sooner.
- Keep them in the fridge in their container, or spread them on a plate lined with a paper towel, loosely covered.
- Leave the green tops on strawberries until you eat them.
Can you freeze strawberries?
Yes, for 8 to 12 months. Wash and dry the berries, hull the strawberries, then freeze them in a single layer on a tray before moving them to a freezer bag, so they don't freeze into a block. Thawed berries are soft, so they're best in smoothies, sauces, jams, baking or straight from frozen in yogurt.
Questions
Can you eat strawberries if one is moldy?
Throw out the moldy berry and those touching it. The others are fine to eat if they're firm and show no mold; rinse them just before eating.
Should strawberries be washed before storing?
No. Wash them just before eating. Washing first leaves moisture on the berries, which helps mold grow.
How long do strawberries last at room temperature?
About a day. Strawberries don't ripen further after picking, so the fridge is the place for them.
